Message from Mr. Glendon Harris
President – Jamaica Agricultural Society for the Hague Agricultural Show

It is with great honour and anticipation that we celebrate the 55th anniversary of Hague Agricultural Show, an event that has annually been at the very heart of family entertainment and the promotion of agriculture and has consistently involved the largest participation of patrons in Trelawny and its environs.

It is commendable to note the achievements of the organizing committee who plays host to impressive livestock exhibitions, a farm queen competition, and innovations in crops for food and energy through branch displays. In the midst of an economic downturn, the efforts of the committee must be recognized.

This year the clear focus on increasing the involvement of school displays and agricultural competitions will in fact strengthen the thrust to ensure the youths’ involvement in agriculture for the sustenance of the industry. Agriculture has to be at the fore – front of the nations’ priorities, not only at present but also for years to come.

At this full action – packed event, the Hague Show is expected to deliver sound technical and business solutions from varied affiliated organizations who fervently participate on an annual basis to include Hi – Pro Ace, Newport Fersan, Agro – Grace, T Geddes Grant, Coconut Industry Board among so many others.

It will be a great celebration for the public to enjoy and explore Trelawny’s agricultural diversity. The Hague Show has consistently been the premier event for the parish and this year’s show will be no exception.

As President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society it must be stated that this exhibition is a testimony of the determination and willful nature of our people to overcome economic challenges and participate with enthusiasm.

God’s richest blessings to the farmers of Trelawny, the backbone to the development and progression of the Hague Agricultural Show and blessings to all.

Mr. Glendon Harris, J.P.
